Darn near everything here is home-grown. I think it gives a more personal touch.
Nothing here justifies the use of Java, Shockwave or the like. This is not quite a lowest common denominator site, but it should look OK on most browsers. I do recommend you set your monitor to thousands of colours (i.e. 65535 colours) or better if that is an option - it improves the JPG's no end. Having Quicktime 3 and Acrobat plugins for your browser is also recommended to get the most out of the site.
As Sam Beckett wrote in Mercier and Camier, 'No quotes.' And yes, I do have permission from the band to use the quote at the top of this page. :-)
