To an Unknown Brother

To the man who did not seek fame or fortune, who neither envied the rich nor belittled the poor. To the citizen who never dropped a piece of litter, because he would not be part of the problem. To the colleague who always strove to do the right thing for the right reasons. To the friend who brought a glimmer of light in our darkest hours. To the husband who stood by his wife through thick and thin.To the father who taught his son to be thoughtful and compassionate. To the son who saw the best in his father and strove to be a role model for his son in turn. To the brother who was also our Brother.

You were never unknown to us. You were our friend and our companion, and with your passing to eternity we are saddened. We are resolved to carry the little flame of hope that you brought to us, and to hand it on through the years.

For you we raise a glass and drink a toast to the friends we have known, and the friends we have yet to meet. To the unknown Brother that we all knew, we salute you.
